Premier Marinas Acquires Boatfolk, Creating UK’s Largest Marina Group
UK’s Largest Marina Group Created
Premier Marinas has announced the acquisition of Boatfolk, in a move that creates the UK’s largest marina operator with a portfolio of 22 sites nationwide. The deal was funded by Wellcome, Premier’s long-term owner, and brings together two well-established brands in the leisure marine sector.
Premier currently operates 11 marinas, primarily along the South Coast of England. Boatfolk adds another 11 locations across the UK, including Bangor, Conwy, Penarth, Portishead, Portland, Weymouth, Haslar, East Cowes, Rhu, Deacons, and Royal Quays. This expansion significantly strengthens Premier’s national presence and opens new opportunities for berth holders and visitors.
For customers, both companies have confirmed that existing contracts and benefits will remain unchanged in the short term. Over the coming months, Premier will begin integrating the businesses, with the stated aim of enhancing services and creating additional value for boat owners, tenants, and local communities.
The acquisition reflects increasing consolidation in the marina sector, where scale is seen as key to long-term investment, modernisation, and customer experience. By uniting their networks, Premier and Boatfolk hope to accelerate improvements in infrastructure, sustainability initiatives, and leisure services.
Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed, but industry observers note that the combined group is now positioned as a major force in the UK leisure marine industry. For berth holders, this could mean wider cruising networks, reciprocal benefits, and more consistent service standards across the country.
While the transition will take time, the deal marks a significant milestone in UK marina operations, setting the stage for a new chapter in recreational boating infrastructure.
