The School of Law at the University of Aberdeen, one of the four "ancient" universities of Scotland, has been teaching law since 1495. We are located on the Old Aberdeen campus within the Taylor Building, which also houses the Taylor (Law) Library.

In the Times Good University Guide 2013 the Law School is ranked 11th in the UK out of more than 90 law schools, in the top 5 for graduate prospects and in the top 10 for student satisfaction.

In National Student Satisfaction Surveys, Law at the University of Aberdeen has consistently scored very highly, with satisfaction rates of over 90%.

The School of Law has been running a successful and varied post graduate programme since the 1980s and offers 16 specialist LLM degrees across four areas of Law: Commercial Law, Energy and the Environment, International Law, Human Rights & Criminal Justice. For students who do not wish to select a specialist LLM programme, it is possible to take a General Law LLM. Students must complete approved courses to the value of 120 credits. In addition students are required to complete the course on research skills (15 credits) and the dissertation (45 credits) or in the case of International Commercial Law and Oil and Gas Law there is the option of undertaking an intensive skills-based Professional Skills option in place of the traditional dissertation.
