First Hydrogen Refueling Station Installed for Bluegame BGH
At the Sanlorenzo shipyard in La Spezia, the Bluegame BGH has reportedly been refueled with green hydrogen for the first time. This landmark event, announced by NatPower H, marks a significant step for Italy and one of the pioneering efforts worldwide in hydrogen marine refueling. NatPower H, a leading developer in green hydrogen infrastructure, collaborated with Bluegame, a Sanlorenzo brand, on this project.
The Bluegame BGH was developed in line with the official protocol for the 37th America’s Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Barcelona at the end of August. According to the company, the protocol requires chase boats—vessels that assist competing boats—to be at least 10 meters long, equipped with foiling capabilities, powered by hydrogen propulsion, and capable of reaching speeds of 50 knots to follow the AC75 flying monohulls.
Reports indicate that two of the six teams competing in the America’s Cup, the US crew of American Magic and the French Orient Express team, have chosen the Bluegame BGH as their chase boat. This innovative vessel is credited to the vision of architect Luca Santella, who serves as the designer and Head of Product Strategy at Bluegame.
